TEHS (Top End Health Service) Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Service

The ‘TEHS Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Service’ is a multidisciplinary service run by a team of experienced professionals from the Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH).  The service aims to work collaboratively with other service providers to provide holistic care for the management of children and adolescents with, or at risk of developing an eating disorder. 

✓ Comprehensive medical and psychosocial assessments
✓ Individualised treatment plans, using evidenced-based treatment models
✓ Education to help understand the eating disorder and address fears regarding food and body image
✓ Strategies to assist care givers to support young people with eating disorders
✓ Management of comorbidities, such as depression and anxiety
✓ Nutritional assessments, meal plans and dietary education
✓ Inpatient care at RDH paediatric and adolescent ward if required for those who are medically at risk
✓ Support to manage the transition from hospital to home
✓ Relapse prevention
✓ Professional support for health workers in the local community.

The TEHS Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Service accepts referrals for clients where there is a diagnosis of an eating disorder or where the client is at risk of developing an eating disorder.  To assist us with triaging referrals, please provide as much information as possible about the client, including:
• Diagnosis and detailed weight history (if available)
• Client contact details
• Current service providers involved.
